China Pictures 1

Of course, the Great Wall is a must-see on a trip to China.  The weather was very hazy, so this picture only gives a hint of the scale.  The wall is built at the top of a very high, steep ridgeline.  Just getting the materials up to it must have been an astounding feat of building.

This dog, near Beijing, was quite photogenic.

The city of Suzhou, about 50 miles outside Shanghai, is famous for its gardens.  This scene is at the Humble Administrator’s Garden.

These lotus are also at the Humble Administrator’s Garden.  It had just rained, and the leaves had collected pools of water.

This is central Shanghai at night.  Shanghai is a bustling, modern, sparkling city.  Even the sidewalks sparkled this night due to intermittent rain.

Here is another example of the beauty of Shanghai.  Miles of the highways are lit with these blue underlights.  In the larger version of this picture, you may be able to see that the highways are lined above with potted plants.  I found this to be quite amazing.
