The spotted deer, or chittal, is common in the park.

We saw several of this kind of eagle.

One of our wishes for the trip was to see a tiger in the wild from the back of an elephant.  This is the best view we got on our first morning of looking for tigers.  We were very excited about this, and had no idea what was in store on the second morning.  (That’s on the next page…)

The best tiger viewing is usually from the back of an elephant.  These are some other park visitors loading up on the elephant.  You get on by climbing on top of the Gypsy (the Jeep-like vehicles in the photos) and then up on the elephant.

This is an appropriately-named black-faced monkey.

This peacock gave us a good show by displaying his tail, and happened to be near some spotted deer.

I just liked this photo of a young spotted deer under a “fire in the forest” tree.

This peacock was in the bright sun, which made his colors really shine.

This bird is called an Indian roller or blue jay.

We stayed at the Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge, near one of the entrances to the park.  These bungalows were quite comfortable.
